About The Logo

Why did we go with a cardinal for our logo? Well, a few reasons:

- The cardinal is the state bird of Virginia, where I grew up. We had a wooden cardinal on our back deck whose wings spun around when the wind blew, so I have fun childhood memories of spinning that guy like crazy in an attempt to make him fly off.

- In graduate school, one of my portfolio projects was an interactive novel concept called Cadence of Seasons that centered on a forest community of birds. The main character was a cardinal named Linden, and that particular project was instrumental in coming up with many of the ideas behind Minor Studios.

- The logo for Minor Ventures, our parent company, is a hippo with a bird on its back…so I like to think that this little guy is that bird, flying off the launching pad to explore new worlds.

- Birds communicate through song, and minor keys are part of music theory, there’s a small connection there too.

- This cardinal’s back and tail also seem to resemble an open book, which emphasizes our interest in telling stories.

So there you go. Fun facts for your next cocktail party.
